The United Methodist Church is a long-standing partner with Adventure West Council in providing character development, leadership training, and mentorship to youth through scouting programs. Hundreds of youth, leaders, and their families have been positively impacted through this valued partnership. In July of 2022, the United Methodist Church and National Council of the Boy Scouts of America announced that our partnership is changing. The UMC organization is encouraging local churches to change from a traditional Charter Agreement to a new model. Some of these options will require units to charter to a new organization. Units chartered to UMC churches must select a path forward and complete any necessary paperwork by 11/30/22. For more information check out the guidebook.Guidebook
Membership in the Boy Scouts of America is for a period of one year, and each year we go through a process to renew the membership of not only the unit (Pack, Troop, Crew or Post) with the Chartered Organization, but also each youth member and adult leader. This process is called rechartering. Please click on the below links to access the Internet Rechartering User Guide as well as instructional videos for assisting you with any questions you may have while processing your Charter Renewal. Adventure West Council online recharter will open October 15, 2022. All 2023 renewal charters are due by or before Friday, December 16, 2022
